Other SUMMER ACTIVITIES IN LANTSCH/LENZ
Lantsch/Lenz, the gateway to the largest nature park in Switzerland, offers numerous other activities.
Lantsch/Lenz is part of Parc Ela, the largest nature park in Switzerland. The three language cultures of Romansh, German and Italian are united in the park. With its steep mountain peaks and vast landscapes surrounded by glaciers and mountain lakes, Parc Ela offers the feeling of real wilderness. In the valleys, historic villages and baroque churches recall the former importance of the trade routes over the Albula, Julier and Septimer Alpine passes.
The most impressive way to discover the unique landscape is on foot or by bike. There are various themed trails to choose from, as well as one-day and multi-day tours.
The spectacular Albula railway line, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an architectural masterpiece and runs right through the middle of the park.
For culture lovers, Parc Ela offers a wide range of sights, events and cultural activities, including the annual Origen Festival.
Around the middle of the 19th century, various washing and baking houses, called pastroins in Romansh, were built, which were owned by so-called baking and washing house cooperatives. In order to save the last two pastroins from decay or possible misuse, the Uniaun Pro Pastroins was founded by locals. The aim was to renovate and repair the facilities in order to return them to their original purpose. Today, they provide an insight into the village culture of the past and can be visited via the Pro Pastroins Association.
