IBU Cup Serie
The biathlon competitions of the IBU Cup series can be compared to the European Cup in the Alpine FIS races. Depending on the ranking of nations, 3 to 6 athletes per national federation are allowed to start at the competitions. The IBU Cup athletes fight for qualification points for the IBU World Cup start. In addition to the young athletes, there are also World Cup athletes at the start who have not yet been able to call up their performance in the season and are fighting for nomination in the World Cup.
This is why there is always an exchange between the IBU-Cup and the World-Cup - especially among the best nations with the most athletes. Annually there are 8 IBU Cups and the season highlight with the Biathlon European Championships. The European Championships are also included in the IBU Cup ranking this season.
