UCI Mountain Bike World Cup - Notes during event

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will take place in Lenzerheide from 9 to 11 August 2019. Please note the following information from Monday, 28 July to Wednesday, 14 August.

Road closures and restrictions on sports bus
From Monday 5 August to Monday 12 August 2019, the cantonal road between Valbella and Lenzerheide village (Voa Principala) and the Voa Dieschen section will be completely closed to through traffic. The traffic is routed from Valbella on the other side around the Heidsee lake.

Note: Due to the road closure, the cycling ban on the path around the lake will be lifted during this period. Mutual consideration (trail tolerance) is requested. 

The Sportbus does not serve the stops Altersheim, Lenzerheide Sportzentrum, Dieschen Sot and Rothornbahn during this time. The Sportbus line blue runs every 15 minutes on Saturday and Sunday (8.00 am - 6.30 pm) and connects Lenzerheide and Valbella with the valley station of the mountain railways on the Scalottas. It runs on the route Clavadoiras - Lenzerheide/Lai, Post - Fadail/Lido - Valbella Skilift/Kirche - Valbella, Canols - Valbella, Posthotel - Valbella Skilift/Kirche - Fadail/Lido - Val Sporz - Lenzerheide/Lai, Post - Clavadoiras.

Park&Ride parking spaces
The blue signposted P+R visitor parking spaces at Heimberg, Proschieri and Obertor are in Parpan (rate CHF 5.00 per day). The P+R shuttle departs from the Hotel Jenatsch in Parpan, which is within 5 minutes walking distance of the visitor car park.

P+R parking spaces are also available at the Clavadoiras car park in Lenzerheide for those arriving from Tiefencastel/Davos. You can also park in the Biathlon Arena and take the Postbus to the event.

Sportbus Bike World Cup (free of charge)
The Sportbus Bike World Cup transports guests and residents from Parpan and Valbella as well as visitors arriving by car to the Bike Arena. It runs from Saturday, 10th to Sunday, 11th August 2019 from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm on the route Parpan, Hotel Jenatsch - Parpan, Obertor - Parpan, Parpaner Höhe - Valbella, Dorf -Valbella, Canols and back.
At the entrance to Canols and on the lake road, a bike parking is available on the premises.

Event area
Access to the event grounds is possible from Friday noon, 9 August to Sunday (during the day), 11 August 2019 only with a valid ticket. This also applies to annual ticket holders, hikers or bikers who do not primarily wish to attend the event.

Arrival by public transport
By public transport you can travel by SBB from Zurich and St. Gallen to Chur. The journey continues by post bus to Valbella, village. From there you can walk or take the sports bus line Bike World Championships to the Bike Arena. The Rothornbahn stop is not open during the event days. Half-hourly or hourly connections from Chur are available from 6.00 am to 11.00 pm.

From the south, visitors take the RhB to Tiefencastel, change there to the post bus in the direction of Lenzerheide and get off at the Lenzerheide/Lai Post stop. Continue on foot or with the blue sports bus to the Bike Arena. 

If you travel by public transport and present your public transport ticket at the Canols main ticket office, you will receive a reduction of up to 40% on your day ticket. Hints:  Only available at the Canols main ticket office. This offer is also valid for GA/BüGa owners, a travel confirmation must be presented (can be obtained from the Postauto chauffeur).

Lenzerheide Bike Park
There are restrictions on the routes from 29 July to 14 August 2019. The STRAIGHTline is closed from 29 July to 14 August 2019. Detailed information on the individual routes and restrictions can be found here (pdf). The Chur Alpine Bike Park offers an alternative.

Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to walk and ride on the corridor for emergency vehicle access on the main road.
