Perskindol Swiss Epic from 2019 new in Grisons

With Davos, St. Moritz, Arosa, Lenzerheide, Scuol and Flims-Laax, six leading mountain destinations have joined forces to create a unique mountain bike multi-stage race in the Grisons Alps from 2019 to 2023. Every year, three of the six resorts are involved in the mountain bike adventure. The Perskindol Swiss Epic Grisons will be part of the newly created "Epic Series", in which the most important multi-stage races in the world come together: the legendary "Absa Cape Epic" (South Africa) and "The Pioneer" (New Zealand) are among the series.

"The Perskindol Swiss Epic is intended to be a true counterpart to the legendary Absa Cape Epic. Unique trails in the midst of breathtaking alpine landscapes and hospitality at the highest level will bring unique experiences to participants, media professionals and fans from all over the world », says Felix Eichenberger, CEO of Swiss Epic AG. "We are very pleased that we have found a great partner with Grisons to open the next chapter in the history of the Perskindol Swiss Epic."

Six destinations for one project
The fact that six top destinations in Graubünden join forces for an international sports event is a novelty. "The partnership is more than just a sport event for the six Grisons regions: mountain biking is an important guest segment for Grisons," explains Reto Branschi, CEO of the destination organization Davos Klosters, who had worked for more than a year to get the race to Grisons. "Our joint commitment to the Perskindol Swiss Epic is intended to strengthen our region's positioning as a leading mountain bike destination and offer our guests new offerings and experiences."

Bruno Fläcklin, tourism director of the Lenzerheide holiday region is also convinced of the project: "Lenzerheide is once again part of a mountain bike history, which is written for all of Grisons! The cross-destination project shows that mountain biking knows no space, and I hope that Grisons tourism will open further doors for joint projects. "Grisons is rightly regarded as a mountain bike hotspot in the Alps" emphasizes Kati Csak, Director Epic Series. "Our Grisons partner villages, the unique mountain landscape with an almost endless network of trails offer the ideal conditions to inspire mountain bikers from all over the world."

1st Perskindol Swiss Epic in August 2019
"Multi-stage races in teams of two have created their own place alongside international title competitions. The Perskindol Swiss Epic in Grisons now adds another highlight; That's what the professional teams and athletes are looking forward to, "says Thomas Frischknecht, team manager for the Scott SRAM MTB Racing Team. "Grisons offers unique trails and hospitality that amateurs and professionals can look forward to in the field."
Davos, St. Moritz, Arosa, Lenzerheide, Scuol and Flims-Laax have signed an agreement with the organizing Swiss Epic AG for five multi-stage races between 2019 and 2023. Two teams of men or women and mixed teams can participate. The implementation is supported by the canton of Grisons. In 2019, the Swiss Epic will take place from 20 to 24 August in Davos, St. Moritz and Lenzerheide. The registration opens on 1 October 2018.
