From the foundation to the «Autotram AG» until today

Every year the Arosa Bergbahnen AG is responsible for over 600,000 guests. This is a huge challenge since the comfort and safety requirements are constantly rising. Through continuous improvements and regular investments in our transportation facilities we avoid stagnancy and our guests feel that they are in good hands.

«Autotram AG» becomes «AG Bus and Skilift Facilities Arosa»; Construction of the Tschuggen lift, Weisshornsattel lift («Middle Hut» until Weisshornsattel hut), Carmenna lift (ice rink Inner-Arosa until Krähentschuggen)

1940

Construction skilift Hörnli (longest skilift in Switzerland with a riding time of 23 minutes)

1946

For the first time the local bus route extends to the Untersee lake

1948

Reconstruction of the skilift Hörnli into a combination of chairlift and/or skilift

1949

Chairlift Hörnli opens for the whole summer season for the first time

1954

«AG Bus and Skilift Facilities Arosa» becomes «AG Aroser Transport Services»

1956

Reopening of the peak restaurant Weisshorn

1957

Official opening of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car (LAW) on 1 July

Commune/Tourist Office/ABB take over the bus company

First time use of mobile snow making machines at Höbördji/slope leading to the train station

1990

«AG Aroser Verkehrsbetriebe» becomes «Arosa Bergbahnen AG» (ABB)

Reconstruction conveyer belt chairlift Brüggerhorn

1992

Reconstruction of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car; Reconstruction chairlift Krähentschuggen

Construction fixed snow making machines 2. stage

Construction new skilift Prätschli right at Prätschli and renaming the old Prätschli skilift into Tomeli

Construction 4-seater chairlift Carmenna and partial demolition of the skilift Carmenna

Demolition chairlift Krähentschuggen and the rest of the skilift Carmenna

Construction chairlift Plattenhorn; Demolition skilift Plattenhorn and chairlift Bänkli, expansion snow facilities (LAW Mitte-Carmenna middle station); Re-construction of the Sattel hut (new terrace area); biggest multimedia laser show of Europas at theLAW middle station; purchase of the Hotel Hohenfels

Expansion of the snow facilities (Carmenna peak station); new star bar at the Brüggerstuba; new Raclette bar at the Tschuggen hut

Construction of the Snowboard half pipe at the north-east slope skilift Tomeli

2007

Staging of the FIS Snowboard World Cup

2008

Expansion of the snow making facilities is approved; construction of the reservoir lake and expansion of the snow making facilities

2009

Reconstruction chairlift Tschuggen-Ost

2010

Reconstruction chairlift Innerarosa-Tschuggen (SIT) into Kulm gondola. New slope routing of the sledding track Innerarosa-Tschuggen

2011

Re-opening 360° Panoramarestaurant Weisshorngipfel; new ticket offices at the Ski School Centre Innerarosa

2012

Decision to combine Arosa and Lenzerheide

2013

Construction start «Urdenbahn» Hörnli - Urdenfürggli

2014

Opening of the new winter sports area Arosa Lenzerheide on 14 January

2015

Construction snow making facilities at Hörnli (middle run Hörnli, Piste 2, and Munggaegg); launch of the 10 months season by starting at Hörnli on 31 October

2016

Biking downhill route from Weisshorn over the Sattel hut to Ochsenalp in test mode

2017

Both cable car companies from Arosa and Lenzerheide launch a dynamic online ticketing system called «First Minute Deal»; opening of the public and free beginners/kids «Honey Land Prätschli»; the KuhBar is temporarily located in a new party hut

2018

For the first time within 6 years, the "Black Diamand Slope" could be prepared again, construction of the Hörnli Trail and pumping station Promenade, opening of the Arosa Bear Sanctuary with adventure playground and bear mini golf at the Brüggerstuba, gentle renovation of the Arosa Mountain Lodge, bear snowpark and redesign of the valley station Tomeli.

2019

Construction of the Bike Skill Center at the bottom station of the Hörnli-Express gondola, new glass-covered sundeck at the mountain restaurant Brüggerstuba, piste/terrain adjustment "Vettertraverse", last ride of the 2-seater chairlift Brüggerhorn and construction/opening of the 6-seater chairlift in Porsche Design.

2020

Lockdown and early end of the season on March 13 due to the Corona pandemic, food truck in the Sternebar Garta, construction of the new snowmaking system "Black Diamond Slope", the new ski depot Tschuggen Ost and renovation of the the Sattelhütte.
