«We wanted to inspire Switzerland for biathlon and for these World Championships, and looking back on the past twelve days, I dare say that we succeeded,» says Jürg Capol, CEO of the World Championships 2025. «The atmosphere in the stadium and along the course got under your skin, the Fan Village vibrated and was a meeting place where you could experience everything from cosiness to exuberance.»

The BMW IBU World Championships Biathlon Lenzerheide also went very well from an organisational point of view. Apart from the challenging crowd management on the peak days, there were no significant weak points in the realisation. For example, the ingenious traffic concept proved to be outstanding. The fantastic mountain weather made work easier for everyone involved.

In addition to the immense support from the army and civil defence, the 860 volunteers played a major role in the success of the 2025 Biathlon World Championships. With their willingness to help, their good humour and their great team spirit, they shaped the major event just as much as the world's best athletes. The most successful athletes were Julia Simon with four gold medals (individual, relay, mixed relay, single mixed relay) and Johannes Thingnes Bö at his last major event with three gold, one silver and one bronze. The strongest nation was France with six gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

IBU Cup in December, World Cup in 2028 and 2030
There was also good news for the organising committee and the national association Swiss-Ski with regard  to future major biathlon events in Lenzerheide. Lenzerheide appears twice in the 2026/27 to 2029/30 World Cup calendar published by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) on Friday: in January 2028 and March 2030. «Lenzerheide and Switzerland are here to stay,» says Jürg Capol. «We look forward to welcoming the world's elite here in the future. The teams from the wider biathlon world feel very much at home here.»

The next international biathlon competitions in the Roland Arena will take place in the coming season. The IBU Cup will be held in Lenzerheide from 16 to 21 December 2025.
