Holiday resort Parpan

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new Parpan cheese dairy was held in autumn 2015. In the winter months, a dairy with glass fronts and an open and spacious auditorium was built in the old and traditional stables of the Plantahof Alp. Visitors are offered the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the Senn, to gain exciting insights into the world of Alpine cheese and to taste the final product.

Approximately 230,000 liters of milk from the Alps Stätz, Kötzigerberg and Plantahof are brought together each year in the alpine dairy Parpan. The processing of alpmilch locally not only creates local jobs but also enables the direct sale of Alpine cheese to guests and locals.

Visit the show dairy during the alpine season in summer from mid-May to mid-October.

You will make your own cheese under the expert guidance of the cheese dairy Tschugga. After three weeks, your cheese will be sent to your home by post. During the production you can taste our cheese.

Meeting point and duration: The meeting point is at 9.00 am at the cheese dairy Tschugga in Parpan. The tour lasts from 9.00 am to approx. 11.00 am.

Costs: Per cheese station max. 4 persons, incl. tasting CHF 80.00 + postage

The family history of the Brüggers in Parpan has been closely linked with the history of Bündnerfleisch production for 4 generations: Engelhard Brügger, the great-grandfather of the current managing director, is even considered the founder of the professional meat drying business.
Today, Jörg and Marlene Brügger continue the tradition that began over 100 years ago with a great deal of know-how and care.

You can expect exciting stories about the craft handed down for four generations and a tasting of the popular Bündner dried meat specialities. The guided tour can be conducted with groups of 12 - 40 people.

The holiday resort of Parpan is an ideal starting point for the Arosa Lenzerheide winter sports area. The Heimberg 4-seater chairlift takes winter sports enthusiasts up to the mountain station at over 2000 m in just a few minutes. On the other side, the Proschieri T-bar lift takes winter sports enthusiasts up to the slopes.

The cross-country skiing network in the Lenzerheide holiday region stretches from Lantsch/Lenz to Parpan and was awarded one of the best areas in Switzerland by the umbrella organization Loipen Schweiz.

Snow sports centre with bistro
Since the 2017/18 season, there is a new snow sports centre in Parpan, which also includes the cross-country skiing centre. It has a cross-country skiing shop and rental, a cross-country skiing pass sales point, an information point and a bistro. Cloakrooms with WC and showers are available as well as a waxing room and a ski service.

Location
The start is at the restaurant Tschugga, about 1.5-hour walk from the village Parpan. There you can rent sledges for CHF 2.00 after a stop at the restaurant. A reservation is not necessary.

Sledge run
The sledge run is about 1.5 km long and is illuminated in the evening.

Free ice skating and curling
Ice skating and curling until the runners and staves glow. In the evening the ice field is illuminated.
The equipment for curling can be found in a wooden box at the ice hut. There you will also find instructions for the game. Please put everything back in the wooden box after the game. We can reserve the curling rink for you on request.

Opening hours & prices
During the winter season it is open and lit daily until 22.00 hrs in dry cold weather. Skating is free of charge.
