The Urdenbahn will be closed from 17 August 2026

Urdenbahn closed from 17 August 2026 for maintenance work

As part of scheduled maintenance work, the four carrying cables of the Urdenbahn will be moved approximately 15 metres under tension from Hörnli towards Urdenfürggli. Due to the suspended loads involved, it is not possible to remain underneath the cables during this period. For safety reasons, the closure also applies on days and weekends when no active work is taking place.

The maintenance work is expected to take around four weeks. However, the exact schedule depends on weather conditions and work progress. The Urdenbahn is expected to remain closed until Saturday, 19 September 2026.

Important for planning your route

During the closure, it will not be possible to return from Arosa to Lenzerheide or from Lenzerheide to Arosa using the Urdenbahn.

The hiking trails from Hörnli and Urdenfürggli through the Urdental are officially closed, as they pass beneath the carrying cables. Crossing the valley away from the marked trails is possible on the northern side, but entirely at your own risk.

As an alternative, you can continue your MTB tour on the trails towards Chur and return to Lenzerheide or Arosa by public transport from there.

Please follow all on-site signage and the instructions of staff members. The closed areas must not be entered or ridden through, including on days when no work is being carried out.

An exception applies during the Arosa Alpine Marathon on 28 and 29 August 2026: for the event, the cables will be specially secured and the southern trail will be temporarily reopened.

We thank you for your understanding and kindly ask you to adjust your tours accordingly during the maintenance period. The Bike Ticket 2 Ride Tours are not affected by the closure and can continue to be enjoyed as planned.
