85'200 spectators, 860 volunteers and – as the main protagonists – the world's best biathletes made the BMW IBU World Championships Biathlon from 12 to 23 February 2025 in Lenzerheide a memorable sporting event.
The financial results fit perfectly with the overall picture presented by the World Championships in Lenzerheide. Thanks to prudent cost management, contributions of CHF 982,000 pledged by municipalities, the canton of Graubünden and the Swiss Confederation did not have to be used. The budget was adhered to. The total costs amounted to CHF 10.58 million, of which around CHF 4 million was covered by the municipalities, canton and Swiss Confederation. The logistical support provided by the army and civil defence was also very important for the success of the World Championships.

«Hosting the first Biathlon World Championships in our own country was not only a great opportunity, but also an organisational challenge,» says Peter Barandun, interim President of Swiss-Ski. «Thanks to the excellent cooperation between the host communities of Lantsch/Lenz, Vaz/Obervaz and Churwalden, as well as Swiss-Ski in the joint Biathlon World Championships 2025 Lenzerheide Association, we can look back on some wonderful title competitions. Our sincere thanks go to the board of directors led by President Stefan Engler and the operational team, including all the volunteers, for their hard work.»
The next international biathlon competitions at the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz will take place as early as next season. From 17 to 20 December 2025, the IBU Cup will stop in Lenzerheide. The Biathlon World Cup will return to Lenzerheide at the beginning of January 2028 and at the end of February/beginning of March 2030.
