The bears Amelia and Meimo from the Arosa Bear Sanctuary could soon have two new housemates. As the bear enclosure at Skopje Zoo is in need of major renovation the zoo wants to start renovation work as soon as possible to improve the enclosure conditions. However, this is not possible with the current number of bears. Therefore, FOUR PAWS was asked by the zoo officials to take two of the four bears - an 18-year old male bear and his sister of the same age. As this step would significantly improve the lives of all four bears, the global animal welfare organisation has agreed to take in the sibling pair and is now planning to with all parties involved for a timely transfer to the Arosa Bear Sanctuary, which will take place around spring of this year.

The Arosa Bear Sanctuary is open in winter on Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
