For the teams of Arosa Bear Sanctuary and FOUR PAWS, things will soon get serious, as the final organisational preparations are already underway for the planned bear transfer from northern Macedonia to Arosa. The journey for Sam and Jamila is scheduled to start on 18 May 2022. The two 18-year-old bear siblings from Skopje Zoo will be brought from northern Macedonia, across several national borders, to the picturesque Graubünden mountain village of Arosa in a transporter specially equipped for wild animals. It is expected that Sam and Jamila will arrive in Arosa on Friday, 20 May 2022 after a journey of around 2,100 km. There, a new life awaits them in Arosa Bear Sanctuary, Switzerland's first bear sanctuary in the midst of alpine mountains.

The so-called bear ambulance will set off from northern Macedonia on Wednesday 18 May 2022 and first travel to Greece, where it will officially enter the EU. Afterwards, the transporter's route will take it over water. It will travel by ferry from the Greek port of Igoumenitsa to Bari in Italy, from where it will travel by road to Switzerland. The transport route is about 2,100 km long. If everything goes as planned, the team will reach Arosa on Friday, 20 May 2022.
