Arosa Fund

Doing good together

As the venue for the 2029 World Winter Games, Arosa has set up a fund for donations together with Special Olympics Switzerland. Together we are supporting mentally impaired people on their way to the 2029 World Winter Games.

Arosa Fund

What is the Arosa Fund? We'll show you what's behind it and how you too can make your contribution.

The World Winter Games for people with disabilities will take place in Switzerland from March 10 to 17, 2029. 2,500 athletes from more than 100 countries will get to know all regions of Switzerland, compete in nine sports and thus promote the equal coexistence of all people in our society.

The participants will also be able to pursue their sports in Arosa. Arosa would like to support people on their way to 2029 by establishing the Arosa Fund.

The donations generated by the Arosa Fund are used to invite mentally impaired people to Arosa to prepare for the Games. Since 2022, money has been collected for the fund via crowdfunding and targeted fundraising projects in Arosa in order to fulfill the mission.

Under “Projects”, you will find an ongoing list of current projects in Arosa and information on how you can get involved.

Arosa and its fans want to make a long-term and sustainable social commitment with the event and the fund! In this way, we promote social cohesion, enable easier access to winter sports for people with disabilities and support the promotion of young talent.

In this way, Arosa is taking a further step towards sustainability in order to achieve the Arosa 2030 goals.

How the money is used

Together with Special Olympics Switzerland, Arosa organizes a snow day once a year for all athletes interested in the 2029 World Winter Games.

First snow day in Arosa

On January 27, 2024, the time had finally come! With the money already collected by the Arosa Fund, a first snow day (Discovery Day) was organized in Arosa! More than 30 participants from all over Switzerland experienced a perfect winter sports day with sociable activities and lots of fun on the slopes. Thanks to the Arosa Fund, the second Discovery Day was held in Arosa on January 25, 2025.

Donation projects

An overview of past projects where donations have been collected as well as new or upcoming projects.

DONATION PROJECT: SPAR SWISS EPIC

The SPAR Swiss Epic is a mountain bike race with 359 kilometers and 11,700 meters of altitude. In summer 2022, Alex Fiva took part together with local bike guides Christian Meier and Martin Hauri and tried to raise as much money as possible for the Arosa Fund. Around CHF 1,500 was generated for the Arosa Fund.

DONATION PROJECT: FIS SKI WORLD CUP

The FIS Ski Cross World Cup made a stop in Arosa in December 2022. Whether between exciting races on the large broadcast screen or while enjoying the culinary offerings in the finish area - there were several opportunities at the FIS Ski Cross event to donate directly and support the Special Olympics athletes on their way to the 2029 World Winter Games.
