Augusto Giacometti (1877 - 1947) - His path to abstractionThe life and work of the three famous Bergell artists, Augusto, Giovanni and Alberto Giacometti, will each be presented in a lecture by Reto Bonifazi. We begin with Augusto Giacometti's work, which was entirely dedicated to colour. Through his colour visions he dissolves matter; the representational recedes behind colour, and consequently he began early on with non-representational colour experiments, so that today he is rightly regarded as a pioneer of abstract painting!
