The organizers put great effort into preparing the original course of the Planoiras Folk Cross-Country Skiing Race between the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz, Parpan and the finishing area on the Luziuswiese in Lenzerheide. The 333 participants from six nations offered a true cross-country spectacle with an exciting and fast race on the 25 kilometres in splendid winter weather.

Biathlete Dajan Danuser leads the way
The decisive group for the day's victory formed early on. After the loop on parts of the World Cup course in the Roland Arena and the passage at the finish area on the Luziusweise in Lenzerheide, Dajan Danuser (Bad Ragaz), Andri Schlittler (Felsberg) Kevin Marc Camathias (Sagogn), last year's winner Ilya Chernousov (Lantsch/Lenz), Philippe Nicollier (Sion) and the Mongolian Achbadrakh Batmunkh were in front. The 2019 fourth-placed Dajan Danuser then brought about the decision before the Parpaner Höhe when he once again increased the pace and got away from the rest. «I didn't want to let it come down to a sprint because two years ago, I crashed in the decision. It went excellently for me and of course I am happy to celebrate a victory at this great event,» said Danuser, who saw the race as training for the upcoming biathlon competitions and will very likely be at the start of the IBU Cup at the beginning of March 2022 in his home Roland Arena. «The running is going well, now we just have to improve the shooting,» Danuser said confidently. Andri Schlittler from Felsberg came an excellent second ahead of Achbadrakh Matmunkh (Mongolian Olympic Team), who together with Ariunsanna Enkthui (4th in the women's race) is being coached by Swiss-Ski on the way to Beijing for an FIS solidarity project. They have already been in the Lenzerheide holiday region for two months and also took part in the Tour de Ski Lenzerheide.

Seraina Boner convinces in the women's race
After 20212, 2016 and 2019, Seraina Boner from Davos won the Planoiras Folk Cross-Country Skiing Race for the fourth time. She held off the German Sigrid Mutscheller, who came on strongly at the end, by eleven seconds. Third place went to Seraina Kaufmann (Ftan), a member of SSC Rätia Chur, who won two years ago ahead of Boner and Mutscheller.

Mountain biker Andrin Beeli in the top 15 in 12th place
In recent years, the mountain bike group has also taken part in the Planoiras Folk Cross-Country Skiing Race. This year was no exception. Andrin Beeli from Sagogne was able to beat the "best mark" of Nino Schurter as 15th two years ago and came in an excellent twelfth, only 15 seconds behind the top ten. Also in the top 15 with 14th place was Janis Spescha from Chur.

Strong boys at the Planoirino
Young cross-country skiers dominated the Planoirino over 13.5 kilometres. In the men's race, 18-year-old Jonin Wyss from Einsiedeln won by four seconds, ahead of 16-year-old Robin Bläsi (Lenzerheide) and Niclas Schaad (Willerzell). The women's race was clearly won by 14-year-old Chiara Fröhlich (Chur), ahead of Lena Baumann (Bennau) and Eliane Deininger (St. Gallen).
