Postbus reservation obligation for bikes
Compulsory reservation for bikes on the Chur — Lenzerheide PostBus line
Since 3 June, the reservation requirement has been in force for various PostBus routes, including the Chur - Lenzerheide line. This one-year trial by PostBus Graubünden builds on the experience gained in Valais. In contrast to Valais, reservations are made conveniently via the SBB app, which is automatically activated as soon as a bicycle is added to the ticket purchase. PostBus is aiming for the following: "Thanks to the reservation, a guaranteed space and thus an untroubled leisure experience is ensured."
- There is no additional effort for ticket purchasers
- However, GA Travelcard holders must make their reservation separately.
What`s new?
- For planned excursions by PostBus, everything remains the same. Bikers are guaranteed a seat. In future, the number of available bike spaces will be visible in the SBB app.
- A reservation is required for spontaneous excursions. If a space is reserved from a later stop, it is not possible to make a booking. Previously, the «first come, first served» rule applied in this case. Now, whoever has reserved the seat is served, so it can be problematic in the event of spontaneous bookings.
- PostBus offers more bike spaces at peak times and can react flexibly to increased reservation requests. As mentioned above, the capacity will be visible in the SBB app in future.
- Reservations will not have a negative impact on capacity. Previously, the following applied: if all suspension points were occupied, there was no transport. The new rule is: if all suspensions are occupied, there is no transport.
We are in dialogue with PostBus and are making sure that reservations for bikers can be made as smoothly and easily as possible. Bikes for children up to the age of 6 ride free of charge as usual and do not require a reservation.
