The Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide becomes the Roland Arena
Name change for the Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide in Lantsch/Lenz.
The multifunctional facility is now called Roland Arena. Thanks to the partnership with the traditional Swiss brand Roland, the Gasparin sisters and other renowned athletes will have their own home. At the same time, the strategic orientation is expanded and the Roland Arena becomes the «home of the shooting stars»: a sports jewel in the middle of the Graubünden mountains.
Roland Arena - the new sports arena in the Lenzerheide holiday region
Since the project jump in 2013, the biathlon facility in Lantsch/Lenz, but also the sport of biathlon in Switzerland, have developed rapidly. In just eight years, the facility went from a greenfield site to the promise of the IBU Biathlon World Championships in 2025.
The Roland Arena has the only biathlon facility in Switzerland that is suitable for the World Cup. Thanks to the multifunctional building architecture, the arena has developed into a well-known training base and will in future present itself as a hub for sports associations, clubs and sports fans. The arena has a Nordic hostel with multi-bed rooms, a catering offer, a sports shop and seminar rooms, all of which are open to the public.
Roland has been focusing on sports sponsorship for years. In addition to the Gasparin sisters and junior biathlete Niklas Hartweg, their athletes include Swiss Cycling athlete Jolanda Neff, Swiss Ski athletes Corinne Suter, Jasmine Flury, Joana Hählen and many other Swiss figureheads.
Enthusiasm among Selina Gasparin and Jolanda Neff
"When I heard about my sponsor's plans, I was immediately thrilled," says Selina Gasparin, the Swiss women's biathlon champion, and adds: "For us athletes, all kinds of dreams are coming true at the moment and I can only say: simply brilliant what is being done for the sport and what is continuing to emerge."
Mountain biker Jolanda Neff, who has been training in the holiday region of Lenzerheide for years, adds: "I think it's really cool that the arena is becoming a big sports meeting place and that we athletes are getting our own home. The infrastructure with the athletics room, bistro and hostel is super and the large network of cross-country tracks, trails and biking trails around the arena is just perfect for us endurance athletes."
