Arosa Lenzerheide - united for 5 years
Exactly five years ago, on 18 January 2014, the Arosa Lenzerheide ski resort connection was opened. It is still regarded as one of the most innovative tourism projects of recent years and inspires snow sports enthusiasts from Switzerland and abroad.
It was a memorable and historic moment in the history of the two mountain railway companies from Arosa and Lenzerheide. Heidi and Gigi, the two protagonists of the ski area connection, fulfilled the dream of a common future with a connecting mountain railway across the Urdental valley. On Friday, 18 January 2019, the opening day of the ski resort connection is approaching and with it the fifth wedding day, also known as the "Wooden Wedding".
The material wood stands for stability and durability; properties that have already been proven after five years of Arosa Lenzerheide. Peter Engler and Philipp Holenstein, the two CEOs of the mountain railway companies from Lenzerheide and Arosa, agree on the anniversary: "We are constantly developing further in order to offer our guests added value and to position Arosa Lenzerheide even better. But as with wood, wherever work is done, chips sometimes fall". At the same time they emphasise and live the close and cooperative cooperation with a uniform appearance as a large common snow sports area.
Still impressive is the system-independent and unsupported reversible aerial tramway from Hörnli to Urdenfürggli, built by Steurer Seilbahnen AG. With a maximum speed of 12m/s it is still the fastest reversible aerial tramway in Switzerland.
