Cycling festival Grinduro also 2021 not in Lenzerheide

The gravel enduro race Grinduro, which was postponed to 2021 due to corona protection measures, will not take place in Lenzerheide in the future either.

The premiere of the Gravel cycling race in Lenzerheide had to be postponed to next year due to the Covid-19 event ban in spring. It is now clear that the destination Lenzerheide will withdraw completely as a venue. «As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting new financial circumstances, Lenzerheide wants to focus on events in the existing four strategic business units. Grinduro, undoubtedly a unique event in the gravel sector, does not fully meet this criterion according to the latest assessmen,» says Bruno Fläcklin, Tourism Director of Lenzerheide tourism organisation. As the event is dependent on strong support from the region, especially in the first three years, it is not possible to continue the project in Lenzerheide.

Looking for a new destination
The cancellation in Lenzerheide does not change the long-term plans of the international Grinduro organizers to hold a Grinduro event in Switzerland soon. Currently, they are looking for a new attractive destination in Switzerland to realize the gravel enduro event in the future. Various discussions are in progress.

Entry fees will be fully refunded
The final cancellation in Lenzerheide means that all entry fees will be refunded in full to the registered participants and the organisation will be dissolved after the project in Lenzerheide is completed. The participants will be informed personally about the proceeding.
