Information about fishing at Heidsee
Want to go fishing on Heidsee? Then you'll need a fishing licence. Want to try fishing for the first time, as a group or with your school class? We've got the right solution for you too.
From the 2025 fishing season onwards, a SANA licence will be required for all licences (including day tickets). Individuals may fish if accompanied by a licence holder with a certificate of competence.
New regulations for fishermen for the 2025 season:
- There will be no fish stocking.
- No catch limits for the entire season
- No minimum catch size for any fish species
- All fish must be taken
- Season from 12 May to 31 October 2025
- 12 May to 14 August 2025, 5.00 am to 10.00 pm
- 15 August to 14 September 2025, 6.00 am to 9.00 pm
- 15 September to 31 October 2025, 7.00 am to 8.00 pm
- Fishing is prohibited between 9.30 am and 6.00 pm between the boat rental and the lakeside restaurant (except for fishing courses).
- Fishing is prohibited on the islands and the entire jetty (except for the picnic island).
- In addition, the provisions of the cantonal fishing law KFG and federal law apply.
You can buy day tickets from 12. June 2025.
- Barbs are not allowed
- Maximum of one treble hook or three single hooks.
- Fishing is only allowed with one fishing rod

The cantonal fishing licence is not valid in Lake Heidsee. Fishing licences for the lake Heidsee can be obtained from the following points of sale:

Adults and children from the age of 12 are entitled to obtain a licence. Children under 12 years are allowed to fish with their fishing rod if they use the quota of an adult fishing licence holder or to fish under the guidance of the fisheries' supervisor, Beat Kilgus. The fishing regulations of the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz apply. Anything not expressly mentioned in this ordinance is regulated by the cantonal fisheries' ordinance.

Fishing regulations lake Heidsee
The cantonal fishing licence is not valid for the lake Heidsee.
- Season start: 12 May 2025
- Licence sales from 12 May 2025
- Season end: 31 October 2025
- Until 14 August 2025, fishing is restricted to between 5 am and 10 pm
- From 15 August to 14 September 2025, fishing is restricted to between 6.00 am and 9.00 pm
- From 15 September to 31 October 2025, fishing is restricted to between 7.00 am and 8.00 pm
Fishing on Lake Heidsee is only allowed with a permit from the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz.
Note: The cantonal fishing licence is not valid for the Heidsee.
- No catch limits for the entire season
- No minimum size for any fish species
- All fish must be taken
- Whitefish can be handed over to the fisheries inspector (+41 76 510 95 85)
- All fish must be properly stunned and killed by cutting the gills.
- Fishing is not allowed on the islands, nature reserves and the entire jetty (except for the picnic island).
- Please be considerate of water birds' nests.
- The use of a landing net to land hooked fish is mandatory.
- Any keeping of fish is prohibited.
- Live bait fish are prohibited.
- Fish guts must be disposed of in a sealed plastic bag in the waste bins.
- Fish guts must not be disposed of in the lake or on the shore
- The catching of Minnows is only permitted with a Heidsee licence.
- It is prohibited to take minnows away with you.
- Minnows must not be attached to fishing hooks alive.
Every fisherman must carry a patent and a SANA-card with them. These must be presented to the fisheries inspector on request.
The capture of wild animals for commercial purposes is prohibited under Art. 19 of the Federal Act on the Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage.
If fish diseases or water pollution is suspected, the holder of the fishing licence must immediately report the incident to the fisheries' inspector of the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz, Beat Kilgus (P +41 76 510 95 85) or the municipal police (P +41 81 385 21 04).
