Planoiras Folk Cross-Country Skiing Race on a new course
The Planoiras Folk Cross-Country Skiing Race has been an integral part of the event calendar in the Lenzerheide holiday region for years. After being postponed from mid-January, the traditional cross-country skiing event in Lenzerheide will take place for the 38th time next Saturday, 4 March 2023.
New course due to lack of snow
Due to the prevailing snow shortage, the race cannot be run on the original course even on the alternative date. Participants will run in the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz on a 5-kilometre (Planoiras) or 4-kilometre circuit (Planoirino). The Planoiras and the Planoirino will both be split into two competitions. The race starts with a prologue in single start. After a break of about one hour, the final runs will continue in a block start. The athletes will keep their personal start number for both competitions. The skating technique will be used.
New competition format this year
The prologue in the individual start will be run according to a drawn start list with a 15-second start interval from 9.30 a.m. onwards. This results in a prologue ranking Overall Planoiras and Planoirino. The final runs in the block start will be started according to the prologue ranking list Overall with a one-minute start interval.
