The 36th Planoiras Folks Cross-Country Skiing Race takes place digitally
The 36th Planoiras Volkslanglauf cannot take place in its usual form in 2021. The reason for this, as with so many sporting events, is the measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, which currently do not allow any gatherings of people. Nevertheless, the organisers have been working on a digital edition of the Planoiras Folk cross-country race in recent weeks, in which participation is possible for everyone. The digital edition will take place from 17 January 2021 to 7 February 2021.
The track does not correspond to the original track
The track for the digital edition of the 36th Planoiras Folk cross-country skiing race is unfortunately not possible on the original track. However, the track selected for the alternative with start and finish at the Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide in Lantsch/Lenz at the cross-country skiing pass control to Lenzerheide and back is also considered beautiful and challenging. Cross-country skier have the choice between the «Planoiras» (23.5 km - two laps) or the «Planoirino» (12 km - one lap). As usual, both runs count towards the Swiss Loppet Challenge. The track can be downloaded as a GPX file.
Timing is done by the participants themselves
Timing is done by the participants themselves using a GPS watch, a Garmin device, a sports watch, the Strava app on their smartphone, etc. After uploading the time, the participant will receive a QR code by e-mail, which can be used to pick up a goodie bag at the redemption point at the Lenzerheide Tourist Office. Registration is free of charge and must be made from 17 January 2021 until the end of the race on 7 February 2021 at the latest. The list of participants with the times run will be updated continuously.
