Mountain Chapel

The Bergkirchli is the oldest church in the Grisons holiday resort of Arosa and also its oldest surviving building. It is located in Innerarosa on the path between the Schanfigger Museum of Local History and the Tschuggen, directly at the valley station of the Carmenna chairlift at 1900 m above sea level.

The Bergkirchli was built in 1493. Today, concerts are held in it during the summer and winter seasons. The church is used religiously for weddings and baptisms and for short services on high holidays. A place made for lingering. Rest in one of the sunny wooden benches in this unique place and enjoy the view of the Erzhorn (the Arosa emblem) and Arosa Rothorn (highest mountain in the region, 2980m above sea level) Concerts are regularly given in the Bergkirchli, organised by Arosa Kultur. The Bergkirchli is a listed building. In order to take care of the historical substance, it is only accessible if a person from the parish, Arosa Kultur or Arosa Tourismus is  present. Only organists instructed and approved by the parish may play the historic organ.
