Today's decision by the Swiss Federal Council provides certainty: the mountain railways of Arosa Lenzerheide will start operating the first installations on Saturday, 6 June 2020. At the start of the 2020 summer season, guests and locals alike will be able to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities on the Weisshorn in Arosa and the Rothorn, Piz Scalottas, Heidbüel and Pradaschier in Lenzerheide. The necessary protective measures will be implemented in accordance with the recommendations of Seilbahnen Schweiz.

At today's press conference of the Federal Council, the expected timetable for the resumption of mountain railway operations was confirmed. The Arosa Lenzerheide summer sports area will start its summer season on Saturday, 6 June 2020. «After the abrupt end of the season in mid-March and the uncertainty of recent weeks, we look forward to welcoming our guests back on the mountain soon», confirmed Philipp Holenstein, CEO of Arosa Bergbahnen AG.

Scharmoin, Piz Scalottas, Heidbüel, Pradaschier, Arosa Weisshorn and Tschuggen Ost open
The mountain railways in Arosa and Lenzerheide already ended the necessary short-time working in May and started the inspection work on the installations. As a result, several summer facilities can be opened on Saturday, 6 June 2020. This includes the Arosa-Weisshorn 1st section aerial cableways (only weekend 6/7 June 2020), Rothorn 1 cable car to Scharmoin, the Tgantieni, Scalottas and Pradaschier chairlifts, the Heidbüel panorama cable car (initially in weekend and holiday operation) and, from Saturday, 13 June 2020, the Arosa-Weisshorn 1st and 2nd section aerial cableways (daily) and the Tschuggen Ost chairlift (depending on demand in good weather conditions from 9.15 am to 1.15 pm). The Hörnli-Express, the Urdenbahn aerial tramway, the Rothorn 2 aerial tramway and the Heidbüel panorama cable car will start daily operations as planned on Saturday, 27 June 2020.

In addition, the mountain restaurants Brüggerstuba/Sternenbar, Scharmoin, zBar, Piz Scalottas and Pradaschier in Lenzerheide will be opening their parlours and sun terraces for their guests on Saturday, 6 June 2020. From Saturday, 13 June 2020, the 360° panorama restaurant Weisshorngipfel and AlpArosa will also be open in Arosa (every weekend).

The panorama and varied network of paths in the Arosa Lenzerheide mountain world attracts both hikers and bikers. The new Bike Kingdom Lenzerheide, which stretches from Lenzerheide to Arosa and Chur, will also open its doors on 6 June 2020 with the starting signal from the cable cars. The centrepiece is the Lenzerheide Bike Park, which will have a new look from this summer. Families can enjoy the popular adventure trails Autschli and Globi, as well as the marble run Scharmoin, the weather dwarfs near Heidbüel or the Pradaschier toboggan run. Bear lovers get their money's worth in Arosa Bear Sanctuary with its adventure trail, bear playground and bear miniature golf.

Protective measures as in public transport
In the remaining days, the Arosa Lenzerheide cableways will implement the measures of the protection concept in accordance with the recommendations of Seilbahnen Schweizi. «In addition, we appeal, as with public transport, for the observance of social distancing and the corresponding personal responsibility of our guests», emphasises Peter Engler, CEO of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG. Consequently, the recommendation to wear a mask also applies to the mountain railways if the distance cannot be maintained.

Totally relaxed online booking
The Arosa Lenzerheide mountain railways rely on the support of their guests, especially in the area of ticketing. By purchasing day and multi-day tickets as well as combination tickets for the Bärenland via the online shop, direct contacts at the ticket offices can be avoided. The tickets can be loaded online onto a SwissPass or Arosa Lenzerheide Key Card. The tickets will be available online from Friday, 3 June 2020. The TOPCARD as well as the Arosa Lenzerheide Annual Pass (for locals) can still be purchased at the attractive advance sale price until 31 July 2020.
