Andreas Haefliger comes from a rich musical tradition and is recognised for his sensitivity, musical insight and transcendent piano playing. Known for his innovative programming, he brings an all-encompassing passion and humanity to his concert performances and recordings. Surrounded by intense vocal artistry from a young age, he acquired the beginnings of what would become a highly individualised vocal piano sound and a sense of natural lyricism in his music-making. After completing his studies at the Juilliard School, Haefliger soon performed with the most important American and European orchestras.

An outstanding recitalist, Haefliger has appeared many times in prestigious concert halls such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Wigmore Hall and at the Lucerne and Edinburgh festivals. A unique Beethoven interpreter, Haefliger has made it his life's work to perform all the sonatas live and on disc alongside works by other composers in his insightful Perspectives series, first on Avie (where he has also recorded flute sonatas with his wife Marina Piccinini) and most recently on BIS.

Haefliger began his recording career with Sony Classical, later appearing on Decca with the Takács Quartet and Matthias Goerne, with whom he won the German Record Critics' Award for Schubert's Goethe Lieder. His most recent releases on BIS include sonatas by Beethoven op. 31 as well as concertos by Ravel, Bartok and Dieter Ammann (written especially for him) with the Helsinki Philharmonic and Susanna Malkki.

In 2024, he and his wife will present the first edition of the Zauberklang Festival, inviting special guests such as Hilary Hahn and Ian Bostridge to perform in an intimate setting high in the Swiss Alps.

After the concert, an aperitif riche will be served in the Kursaal (cost with concert and film screening: CHF 55.-/ 50.- for young people, students and members of Arosa Kultur).
